Disney Bans Its Characters From Mobile Phones

Bosses at Disney have withdrawn permission for their cartoon characters to be used on mobile phones over health fears.

The move follows some scientific claims that youngsters are more at risk from mobile phone radiation than adults.

The US-based entertainment giant says it will not allow characters like Mickey Mouse and Tigger to be used on phones or to promote their sales.

A Walt Disney spokesman says there are too many gaps in knowledge about safety for them to be associated with the technology.

John Singh, from the company's consumer products division, told the Daily Express: "Because the well-being of our customers is our priority we have decided to discontinue the licensing of our characters for use on cellular phones until there is reliable scientific evidence establishing the absence of any such risk."
