Dispute About Standards For Mobile Phone Radiation Levels
The Canberra Times
Journalist: Rachael Quigley
February 25, 2002

A public document in simple language about mobile telephone radiation is due to be released in Australia later this year. The concept has been universally welcomed, although user groups and trade unions have expressed some concerns, including doubts about the research the information it is based on. Peter Raue from the Radiation Health & Advisory Council has defended the draft document, saying the experts can only caution against radiation effects that have been proven, not those that are simply suspected. He points out that the guide will recommend precautionary use of mobile telephones.
