Bill Would Post Health Warning On Cellphones

The Ministerial Committee on Antennas and Cellular Phones, headed by Environment Minister Dalia Itzik, has approved a private member's bill by MK Ophir Pines barring cellular phone ads unless they include a warning about the possibility of their being harmful to health.

The committee empowered Communications Ministry Director-General Daniel Rosenne and Pines to prepare the wording of the warning, which would include data on electromagnetic radiation from the phone and advice on how to reduce the risk. Pines's bill is to be brought soon to the Knesset plenum for its preliminary reading.
