Cell Confusion and debate continue over the dangers of cell phone use. A study released earlier this month by the Australian Consumers Association found that the rate at which radiation is absorbed by human tissue drops 92 percent when hands-free earpieces are used. This contradicts a study published by the British Consumer Association in April, which said earpieces actually triple the amount of electromagnetic radiation to the brain. Although no definitive study has proven that mobile phones lead to cancer or any other ill health effects, public concern is on the rise. A Maryland neurologist recently filed an $800 million lawsuit against Motorola Inc. and eight other telecom companies and organizations, claiming his cell phone use led to a malignancy in his brain. |
